10 Places To Eat And Drink Safely In Cardiff This Month

UK Hospitality

The month of August is set to be a really exciting one for Cardiff residents as reopening of venues across the hospitality sector is set to go ahead on August 3. Although the future remains uncertain for the industry, this re-opening of restaurants and venues will be a great thing for both restaurants and individuals, provided we can all socially distance.

Luckily, Cardiff has its fair share of socially distant abiding restaurants, with enough outdoor space to ensure that people can keep their distance whilst enjoying amazing food. We’re pulling together a list of our personal favourites, so that you can decide where to dine once lockdown on eating out is lifted.

DEPOT

DEPOT is everyone’s favourite warehouse space for creative pop up events. Since 2015, DEPOT has been providing the people of Cardiff with exciting culinary events that showcase everything that the Welsh foodie scene has to offer.

From Ginstock, to Bingo Lingo and Street Food Social, DEPOT has put itself on the map as the venue that is immersed in the Cardiff culture. It’s a great spot to visit if you like your space, as they will operate with security and a capacity limit that will ensure social distancing is kept in place. The Street Food Social starts up again in August, offering an amazing foodie experience that’s not to be missed!

3Bs

A love for Bombay (or Mumbai as it’s now known) and the food that emerged from the area is the reason Bwyta Bwyd Bombai was born. The founders of the restaurant wanted to bring authentic Indian street food and mini meals to the streets of Cardiff for all to experience. The name is a combination of the welsh for eating and the traditional name of Mumbai - Bombai. One to watch if you fancy Indian food.

Coconut Tree

Coconut Tree is offering 50% off food in August, so it’s an absolute steal if you fancy some delicious SriLankan food. Their dishes are rich in Ceylon spices with recipes going back generations from their very own parents' kitchens.

Tapas style food, combined with yummy cocktails and drinks make this place ideal for a reunion post-corona lockdown.

Dusty Knuckle

Go and enjoy pizza as you’ve never experienced it before at Dusty Knuckle. This pizza joint promises not to serve you pizza that will make you feel heavy, bloated and awful and instead uses pillowy soft dough. Their dough is made fresh on site each day and then cooked at 450+ degrees for that crispy, light texture.

They’re opening again in Castle Arcade and Papermill Road, plus if you don’t want to venture out you can find them on Deliveroo.

Super Tidy Burgers (The Grazing Shed)

You can’t go wrong with burgers, and these burgers are something special. Made from the heart, using only the finest ingredients, you won’t be surprised that Super Tidy Burgers was voted the No. 1 burger joint in Wales. A great place for a post-COVID meal out.

FAB Burgers

We all love burgers, but if you want to enjoy some lush sunshine whilst you devour a juicy burger, then FAB Burgers is the place to go. Their outdoor seating will keep you COVID safe and ensure that you have enough room to get stuck into your burger without creating a mess. Chef designed burgers served in a casual manner is their vibe.

Mowgli Street Food

Street food is a big yes at the moment. Lots of space plus delicious food, equals a great time regardless of social distancing measures. Mowgli’s delivers when you want the taste of India, complete with rich and intense flavours and healthy, light herbs and spices. There’s something for everyone, and with social distancing in full swing, the street food element makes this one not to miss!

Real Italian Pizza Co

When you fancy an authentic Italian pizza, Real Italian Pizza Co is the place to go. We love their wood-fired ovens that give their pizza a crispy and thin texture, with simple and flavoursome toppings.

Their simple menu of favourites are served in a family-run, relaxed atmosphere, which epitomises the Cardiff foodie scene.

Wally’s Delicatessen

You’ll never get bored of visiting Wally’s Delicatessen. Long-established as a quirky deli full of amazing delights that you never knew you needed, Wally’s is the ideal spot for a Deli lunch full of charcuterie boards and wine with a good friend or family member. Visit Wally’s for a memorable lunch in Morgan Quarter.

Wok to Walk

A Cardiff classic, Wok to Walk is the perfect spot for a fresh and delicious lunch. With the element of choice, Wok to Walk is ideal for everyone - you literally get to design your dish each time you go in there. With a casual and relaxed feel, plus lots of yummy options, it’s a great place to enjoy a meal out.

We love these foodie spots, but remember to carry out social distancing no matter where you go out to eat at the moment. For some top tips on how to eat out safely, take a look at our blog article on how to maintain a safe social distance when you go out.
