Good Samaritan punter tips £100 for a pint at his favourite local to ‘help the place out’
A pub landlord was left astonished after discovering a good Samaritan customer had left a £100 tip via Yoello their online payment platform, after purchasing just one pint.
Chris Rowlands of craft beer bar, Bubs, in Cardiff at first thought the payment was made in error. He said: “I saw that a customer who’d enjoyed a pint with us on a Tuesday evening had tipped £100. It was just a £4.90 order so I thought it had to have been a mistake.”
Chris immediately called his online payment platform provider Yoello to flag the error and query as to how to go about refunding the customer. He added: “We spoke to the guys at Yoello who were able to share the customer’s details for us to contact him direct. When we spoke to him it turned out that he really DID intend to tip that much to help the place out through all the Covid-19 issues.
“I was stunned, it was quite mind-blowing that someone would think of doing that. It’s nice to hear there’s still some good in the world!”
CEO and Founder of Yoello Sina Yamani added: “It was fantastic to hear that one of our clients had received such incredible support from one of his customers. The fact that the gentleman added it secretly to his bill while he paid via the platform without mentioning it to any of the staff showed that he clearly just wanted to help out at a time he knows local pubs and restaurants are operating under incredible pressures. It brought a smile to all of our faces when Chris shared the news with us.”
